Much of my work explores ecology. I paint plants, animals, and fungi on my body and then photograph the completed paintings. The combination of body painting and self-portraiture is an intimate way of expressing and transforming myself.
My home is in Massachusetts and I enjoy exploring my backyard and the nearby Middlesex Fells forest. The process of creating these works increases my attentiveness to nature, resulting in inner as well as outer transformation.
I’m often asked about what it is like to paint on my own body; click here to read more about how and why I create self-portraits.
